NTT DATA Group has been undergoing a significant transformation. In 2022, it integrated NTT Limited, the overseas business arm of the NTT Group, so that overseas sales now account for 60% of the company’s total sales, and it has grown to rank sixth in the world for IT services in terms of revenue. The company has offices in more than 50 countries and regions worldwide, and of its approximately 195,000 employees, 45,000 or about 23% are in Japan, followed by India with 35,000 employees, and by Spain and Italy.
NTT DATA's data center business ranked third in the world
IT is a global commodity, and globalization is a field for corporate growth.
With the integration of NTT Limited in 2022, our overseas data center business has expanded, and with approximately 390 billion yen invested last year, we currently hold the third largest position in the world among data center operators.
What is important in the data center business is to be on an equal level in conversation with hyperscalers (large-scale cloud providers) such as Google and Microsoft. To this end, we are committed to securing land in favorable locations for data center construction, as well as building robust structures, ensuring quality, and maintaining a certain level of delivery capacity. In addition, we are firmly committed to meeting the demand for AI data centers in line with the spread of generative AI.
Solving challenges based on “what”, rather than “how”
When it comes to digital transformation, we often begin with technology, asking how to ‘utilize data’ or ‘integrate AI’. These are the “how”. Instead, NTT DATA recommends focusing on the “what”: the management challenges we are trying to solve.
Generative AI is a great example of the “how”. As a next step, we announced we will start providing a new AI service called SmartAgent™. In the future, multiple generative AI with specialized knowledge of business operations such as accounting, law, and sales will be available. SmartAgent™ is a generative AI service that enables these AI to be used in business processes.
Smart AI Agent™ is a direct response to the growing demand for tools that unlock the full potential of generative AI. At NTT DATA, we are committed to pioneering innovation that drives enterprise success. Smart AI Agent™ is designed to ease operational burdens, drive adoption, and help businesses realize the true value of AI technology.
The time will come when AI agents replace specialized organizational capabilities.
As SmartAgent™ is introduced to companies, office worker productivity will improve, and as generative AI becomes more prevalent, it will become indispensable in providing new value to end users.
