Masahiro Kono, Management Executive Officer and Senior General Manager of the Overseas Business Division at Sankyu Inc., a company operating in logistics and plant engineering, remarked, “The development of highly skilled engineers, such as personnel engaged in maintenance, is essential.”
To address this issue, Sankyu established the Sankyu Technical Academy in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, in October 2022. It is the company’s first overseas training facility and is designed to train engineers and site leaders, targeting 7,000 group employees working in ASEAN countries including Malaysia, as well as in India and the Middle East.
“Employees from local subsidiaries in ASEAN, India, and the Middle East come to Johor for training, then apply and disseminate what they have learned in their own countries and regions” Kono explained.
Leave a Nest, a startup support and science education company, defines exceptional talent as “individuals who can identify problems, craft their own solutions, and drive meaningful change.”
“In Malaysia, our goal is to collaborate with local partner companies to nurture this kind of next-generation talent,” said Kihoko Tokue, Managing Director of Leave a Nest Singapore.
Vincent Wei, Co-founder & CEO of Archisen, a Singapore-based agri-tech solutions provider, highlighted Malaysia’s strength in human capital. “Malaysia has more agricultural engineers and economists than Singapore,” he noted. “However, since our type of high-tech farming is still relatively unknown there, we aim to grow through mutual collaboration and shared learning.”
