Nikkei and Financial Times opened an Anniversary Teahouse in conjunction with the 72nd edition of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, held from 16 to 20 June 2025 in Cannes, France.

Tea, a drink cherished in both Japan and Britain was chosen as the theme of this occasion. It reflected the value of Nikkei and FT's collaboration: respect, understanding, and connection.

Just steps away from the Cannes Lions venue, the Teahouse offered a calm and welcoming space for conversation and inspiration. The space featured a display of an ultra-thin, flexible solar panel developed through international collaboration—highlighting innovative approaches to energy and sustainability.

Guests were also invited to enjoy matcha served by ITO EN, one of the world’s leading tea producers, and experience a live matcha-making demonstration—an elegant showcase of Japanese hospitality and tradition.

The bespoke Wallace Sewell fabric, woven in Lancashire using Japanese paper yarn, brought together design sensibilities from both countries. Nikkei blue and FT pink were interwoven to symbolize the partnership of two organizations and the meeting of two cultures—woven into a shared story of creativity and success.
